Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to the Masai Mara – Afternoon Game Drive

The safari begins with an early-morning collection from selected Nairobi hotels or
an agreed meeting point. As this is a shared departure, guests must be ready at the
confirmed pickup time. The vehicle may collect other travellers from different
locations before leaving Nairobi.

Travel towards the Great Rift Valley, with a short stop at a suitable viewpoint when
weather, traffic and time permit. From the escarpment, you may enjoy broad views of
the Rift Valley before continuing through the Kenyan countryside towards Narok.

Proceed to the Masai Mara area and arrive at the budget tented camp around lunchtime,
depending on traffic and road conditions. Check in, enjoy lunch and have a short rest
before departing for the afternoon game drive.

During your first game drive, the driver-guide will search the open plains, riverine
woodland and seasonal water points for wildlife. Possible sightings include lions,
elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, topis, impalas, gazelles,
warthogs and spotted hyenas.

Cheetahs may be seen scanning the open plains, while leopards are sometimes found
near riverine woodland or resting in trees. All wildlife moves freely in its natural
environment, so particular sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Return to the camp before or around sunset for dinner and your first overnight stay.

Day 2: Full-Day Shared Masai Mara Game Drive

After an early breakfast, collect your picnic lunch and depart for a full-day shared
game drive in the Masai Mara. Morning hours can be particularly rewarding because
temperatures are cooler and many animals are more active.

The day’s route will be selected by the driver-guide according to seasonal wildlife
movements, recent sightings, road conditions and the interests of the group. Because
this is a shared safari, the guide must balance the viewing interests and comfort of
everyone travelling in the vehicle.

The Masai Mara supports an exceptional range of wildlife. Possible sightings include
lions, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, leopards, spotted hyenas, black-backed jackals,
giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, elands, topis, hartebeests, impalas and Thomson’s and
Grant’s gazelles.

Black rhinos are present in the greater Masai Mara ecosystem but are less frequently
encountered. Depending on the game-drive route, hippos and Nile crocodiles may be
seen around the Mara or Talek rivers.

Birdlife may include secretary birds, kori bustards, crowned cranes, southern ground
hornbills, ostriches, vultures, eagles, storks and many smaller grassland and
woodland species.

A picnic lunch will be served at a designated and safe location in the reserve.
Continue exploring during the afternoon before returning to the camp for dinner and
your second overnight stay.

Day 3: Masai Mara to Nairobi

Enjoy breakfast at the camp before checking out and beginning the shared return
journey to Nairobi.

An additional morning game drive is not included unless it has been specifically
confirmed and paid for in advance. The return journey passes through Narok, with
comfort stops made at suitable locations when required.

Arrival in Nairobi is normally expected during the late afternoon or early evening.
The exact arrival time depends on road conditions, traffic and the order in which
guests are dropped off.

Drop-off will be provided at selected Nairobi hotels or an agreed central location.
Airport drop-off must be requested before booking and is subject to the shared
vehicle’s route and timing. Guests should not book a flight with a tight same-day
connection after the safari.

Wildlife and the Best Time to Visit

The Masai Mara offers rewarding wildlife viewing throughout the year. Wildlife
sightings, predator encounters and migration movements are natural events and
cannot be guaranteed.

January to March: Generally drier conditions and shorter grass
can provide good visibility and rewarding predator sightings.
April to June: The green season offers lush landscapes, dramatic
skies, excellent birdlife and fewer vehicles in some areas. Rain may affect roads.
July to October: Usually associated with the Great Migration in
the Masai Mara. Wildebeest and zebra movements depend on rainfall and grazing.
November to December: The short rains often produce greener
scenery, active birdlife and opportunities to see young animals.

Great Migration river crossings cannot be scheduled or guaranteed. Their timing
and location vary according to rainfall, river conditions and herd movements.

Accommodation

The safari includes two nights at a budget tented camp in the Masai Mara area.
Accommodation is simple and may consist of a permanent tent or basic room with
bedding, mosquito netting and a private or camp-standard bathroom, depending on the
selected property.

The final camp will be confirmed at booking. If the proposed camp is unavailable,
it may be replaced with another property of a comparable standard.

Child accommodation policy: Guests aged
12 years and above are considered adults by most safari accommodation
providers and are charged the applicable adult rate. Prices for younger children
depend on their exact age, room-sharing arrangement and the selected camp’s policy.

Shared Safari Transport

Transport is provided in a shared safari minivan with a viewing roof. The exact
seating position cannot be guaranteed and may be rotated fairly among guests during
the safari.

The vehicle may carry other travellers with separate bookings. Pickup times,
comfort stops, game-drive routes and Nairobi drop-offs must therefore accommodate
the entire group.

Infant and Child Transport-Seat Policy

An infant travelling on a parent’s or guardian’s lap is not charged for a transport
seat. A separate transport seat for an infant or young child costs
USD 90.

The USD 90 charge applies to the child’s place in the shared safari vehicle only.
It does not include accommodation, meals or Masai Mara park entrance fees. These
costs will be quoted separately according to the child’s age and room-sharing
arrangement.

Parents or guardians must provide the child’s exact age when booking. If a child
safety seat is required, it must be requested in advance and remains subject to
availability.

Masai Mara Park Entrance Fees

Masai Mara National Reserve entrance fees are
not included in the USD 250 safari price. Park fees must be paid
separately in addition to the safari package.

The amount payable depends on the traveller’s age, travel dates and the official
park-fee schedule in effect at the time of travel. The final applicable fees and
payment instructions will be confirmed before the safari.

Park fees are determined by the relevant authorities and may be revised without
prior notice. Any change in park fees does not change the base safari price but will
affect the total amount payable for the trip.

Optional Activities

A hot-air balloon safari and a Maasai village visit may be arranged at an additional
cost, subject to availability. Optional activities should preferably be requested
before travel.
