Detailed Itinerary
1. Pickup from Your South East Coast Hotel
Meet your guide at the confirmed hotel pickup point and begin your excursion by road. Your guide will introduce the day’s programme and explain the arrangements for the forest walk, cave visit and restaurant stop.
The departure time and order of visits will be coordinated with attraction admission slots, your hotel location and any confirmed restaurant reservation.
2. Guided Nature Walk in Jozani Forest
Visit Jozani Forest within Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park for a guided introduction to Zanzibar’s forest environment. Follow the designated visitor trails while learning about the vegetation, wildlife and conservation of this protected area.
Look for Zanzibar red colobus monkeys, a species native to Zanzibar, and observe their behaviour from a respectful distance. Your guide will help identify wildlife encountered along the route. Animal sightings depend on natural movements and cannot be guaranteed.
Where included in the confirmed visitor route and open on the day, continue to the mangrove boardwalk to learn about the coastal ecosystem and the role of mangroves. Follow your guide’s instructions, remain on designated paths and avoid feeding or touching wildlife.
3. Road Transfer to Maalum Cave
After the forest visit, continue to Maalum Cave in the Paje area. This stop introduces a different side of Zanzibar’s natural landscape: a cave pool surrounded by rock formations and tropical greenery.
On arrival, receive an introduction to the venue’s access arrangements and visitor rules before entering the designated pool area.
4. Maalum Cave Visit and Optional Swimming
Enjoy the cave setting during your confirmed admission slot, with time to appreciate the water, surrounding vegetation and natural rock formations. Take photographs from permitted areas or relax beside the pool.
Swimming is optional and subject to the venue’s rules and staff instructions. Guests who wish to swim should bring swimwear, a towel and a change of clothes. Equipment and additional facilities are included only where specified in your booking confirmation.
5. Continue to The Rock Restaurant at Michamvi Pingwe
Travel by road to Michamvi Pingwe for your scheduled restaurant or coastal viewing stop. The Rock Restaurant occupies a distinctive position on a small rock just offshore, providing opportunities for photographs from suitable coastal areas.
The approach to the restaurant depends on tides and sea conditions. Follow the restaurant team’s instructions for access and any required boat transfer. High tides or unsettled sea conditions may cause delays.
6. Optional Dining at The Rock Restaurant
If a table reservation has been confirmed, enjoy your scheduled dining session and choose from the available menu. Please share any dietary requirements when requesting the reservation so the restaurant’s ability to accommodate them can be checked.
Meals and drinks are excluded unless expressly included in your booking confirmation. Any restaurant advance payment, reservation conditions or other dining requirements will be communicated before confirmation.
If you prefer a viewing and photography stop without dining, advise Cruzeiro Safaris when enquiring. Entry inside the restaurant or onto its terrace is subject to a confirmed reservation or permission from the venue.
7. Return Transfer to Your Hotel
After the scheduled stop, meet your driver for the return journey to your South East coast hotel. The final arrival time depends on the day’s confirmed programme, traffic, restaurant service and local conditions.
